This kitchen in East Atlanta received thoughtful, measured tweaks that maximized cabinet space and light. Jessica added 15” of window to the original opening, bringing in more daylight and a sense of airy ease, and discrete open shelving reiterates ample room for storage and display. A new island was incorporated, and the butcher block top chosen for warmth and texture.

Another way to open up a smaller kitchen is to convert a traditional pantry closet into cabinets within the footprint. Bringing food, storage, and even reserve glassware within arm’s reach solidifies cohesion of the space, which is what Jessica did here. Don’t miss the hidden microwave, rolling pull-out shelves, and wine rack tucked behind the doors - it’s a master class in efficiency.
